Kushtia Road Division at a glance

The Kushtia Road Division was established in 1982 under the Jessore Road Circle under the Khulna Zone of the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) under the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. It has road sub-division, Kushtia and 1st row factory sub-division, Kushtia i.e. total 2 sub-divisions. Road Division Kushtia has 2 National Highways (49.64 km), 4 Regional Highways (64.6 km) and 9 District Highways (133.61 km) with a total length of 256.336 km. In addition, 15 highways have 26 bridges (1322.79 m) and 173 culverts (608.84 m). Highways are spread in 6 upazilas of Kushtia district. Among the important highways- The Jhenaidah-Kushtia-Pakshi Ferry-Dashuria National Highway (N-604) is the only means of communication between North Bengal and South Bengal. The Ahladipur-Rajbari-Pangsha-Kumarkhali-Kushtia (Chourhas) (R-610) regional highway is a short distance road link with the capital Dhaka. Kushtia (Bottail) -Poradaha-Alamdanga-Chuadanga (R-746) road is a direct road link between Kushtia district and Chuadanga district. Kushtia (Trimohoni) -Meherpur-Chuadanga-Jhenaidah (R-845) road is one of the means of road communication between Kushtia district and Meherpur and Jhenaidah districts. The Bheramara-Daulatpur (Z-6411) road is an easy road link between Kushtia district headquarters and Bheramara and Daulatpur upazilas. Besides, other district highways are milestones in terms of road connectivity from Kushtia district headquarters to other adjoining districts and from upazilas to other upazilas. With the overall cooperation of Hon'ble Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Members of Parliament, District Administration and local people, ADP, PMP (Major) and maintenance work has been undertaken for upgrading roads and infrastructures under Kushtia Road Division, which is a reflection of development activities undertaken by the present government. Following this, 30.34 km of pavement construction and surfacing on 3 district highways under District Highway Development Project-1st Phase (Khulna Zone) under Kushtia Roads Division and 23.34 km of pavement strengthening work of 3 more district highways in the 2nd phase of the same project. Done. Besides, 23.54 km of road repair work has been done under PMP-Roads program and 12.00 m (3) culverts and 39.28 m bridges have been constructed on 3 highways under PMP-bridge / culvert program. One of the life demands of the people of Kushtia district is 8.60 km. Upgradation of important regional highways (Khulna Zone) project. Surfing will begin shortly. Besides, under the PMP-Road (Major) program in the current financial year, the most damaged part of Jhenaidah-Kushtia-Pakshi-Ferry-Dashuria road is 27.82 km and the most damaged part of Kushtia (Trimohoni) -Meherpur-Chuadanga-Jhenaidah road is 13 km. Will be started. On the other hand, 3 roads have been included under the District Highways Appropriate and Widening Upgradation (Khulna Zone) project and the DPP of the project is awaiting approval from ECNEC. After the approval of DPP by ECNEC, the actual work will be started by inviting tenders. It may also be mentioned that the main urban part of Kushtia (10.00 km) on the Jhenaidah-Kushtia-Pakshi Ferry-Dashuria National Highway has been upgraded to 4-lane and the rest (14.00 km) is being duly developed. The officers / employees of this department are working diligently to make the road infrastructure safe, economical and more improved. It is hoped that through the implementation of ongoing and planned projects, the road infrastructure of this district will take a unique place among all the districts of Bangladesh in the future.
